Sundays are an amazing day this season for anime releases. There are a few returning shows and several fantastic new ones. There are two isekais, an incredibly cute elementary school romance, a dark thriller and then the return of both MSG: The Witch from Mercury and Demon Slayer. It is difficult to pick a favorite out of the line-up but I can pick my least favorite.
The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far is definitely one of the worst isekais of the season, and definitely the lamest show I’m watching on Sundays. It has yet to hold my attention during all three episodes I’ve watched. It contains many of the common tropes but doesn’t do any of them particularly well. The character isn’t compelling, the story feels overdone and there isn’t anything new being added to the genre, so it is a disappointment, especially when contrasted with the other Sunday isekai.
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too is incredibly promising in the first two episodes. The main character is relatable, it doesn’t have the usual isekai intro, and the animation choices are much darker than usual and dynamic. I’m planning to do a greater write-up discussing the motivations of the characters very soon.
My Home Hero maintains that dark atmosphere very well. A story about a father doing anything to protect his daughter is a classic, and this show is telling it very well. It also has by far one of the more unique methods I’ve seen anywhere for body disposal. I’m looking forward to seeing just how far these parents are willing to go to protect their child from the yakuza.
My Clueless First Friend is the adorable palette cleanser of the Sunday show run. This elementary school story is so cute it almost hurts. Our young bullied girl meets the perfect boy, who thinks she is both incredibly cool and cute. He also shuts down any and all bullying with positivity, questions, and oddly enough agreeing with them. This is sugary sweet and a welcome refresher from the more drama heavy shows.
Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village is a heavy hitter and another dark anime. This third season is promising to be just as good as the first two and the movie. We’ve already had some emotional moments in just the first few episodes and Tanjiro is maintaining his best boy status. We are nearing the end of the story and it just gets more exciting with each new arc, I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is my absolute favorite addition to the MSG franchise. I intend to do a full dive into the production and creation of this show. It carries forward the ideals that the franchise has always pushed and now with a female lead. The action, writing, characters, animation and acting are all stunning. This is the second half of the first season and the suspense is building with each episode. We will hopefully have more answers soon, and I can’t recommend watching this enough.
All of these shows are streaming on Crunchyroll currently. Now please enjoy the powerful opening for The Witch from Mercury!

Your write ups are definitely improving!
