My apologies for the delay on this post. July has been fraught with health issues. I should be getting back on track soon. I’m starting with the second half of the Spring season now. I should be putting on some initial thoughts on the Summer Season soon too. Please enjoy these thoughts for now!

Mashle
Harry Potter meets One Punch Man in this ridiculous over the top show. Mash Burnedead muscles his way through school, taking down numerous foes and making great friends along the way. This is absolutely as hilarious as One Punch Man and made me laugh with every single episode.
One sentence Summary: Wizard school bullies are not prepared for people who will just punch them in the face.
Tonikawa Season 2
This season really just showed how difficult managing a relationship can be, especially if you had only met once before getting married. It is nice to see them slowly getting to know each other and really grow into the relationship. They still have a long way to go, but I’m sure that Tsukasa’s grandmother will push them along as fast as she can.
One Sentence Summary: Awkward teenagers are married but still can’t show affection without being incredibly awkward.
Magical Destroyers
I don’t know what was going on in this show. This was the most insane magical girl/revolution show from start to finish. I enjoyed it, but it was strange and the ending left me with questions. I’m not sure if the ending was good or bad, just strange, like the rest of the season had been. I’m onboard for any show that has otakus staging a revolution though and the opening animation was killer.
One Sentence Summary: Magical Girls and otakus can do anything if they try hard enough, or just amuse a single goddess.
My One-Hit Kill Sister
If you look past Maya-nee’s incestual nonsense this was a pretty great isekai. The characters were interesting, if one note for many of them. The animation was spectacular, especially in fight scenes. It was an enjoyable overall experience and I would definitely watch another season.
One Sentence Summary: Younger brother obsessed sister isekais self and destroys monsters, makes rivals/friend with her boob twin demon.
Rokudo’s Bad Girls
Rokudo’s grandfather cursed him with the ability to attract any bad girls. Rokudo just tries to redeem them, but falls in love with the baddest girl of them all, Ranna Himawari. He manages to save her from falling in the worst crowd and makes tons of friends along the way, securing a peaceful school life eventually.
One Sentence Summary: Bad girl falls for nerd boy and will destroy anyone who threatens his happiness.
The Cafe Terrace and It’s Goddesses
This was almost your standard harem but the protagonist stood out. He had a lot of personality and really worked well with each of the girls. I liked the beach cafe setting, it allowed the girls to have a lot of outside interests besides just living with him. I surprisingly enjoyed this despite it having the worst opening animation of the season.
One Sentence Summary: Grandma makes sure her grandson will get married by ambushing him with a harem after her death.
Birdie Wing - cour 2
More lesbian golf fun! This saw a return to the underground mafia golf world before going into the aggressive world of pro golf. This was still a little odd for a shonen anime but I liked the characters and the sheer amount of work it took to make golf that exciting.
One Sentence Summary: Lesbian golf romance is plagued by outrageous golf injuries.

A Galaxy Next Door
This romance between a manga artist and his new assistant started off a little strange, with the stinger and all, but it progressed nicely. The added element of him raising his two young siblings and her star people made for some pleasant low key drama. It was overall very cute but one of the more lackluster romances of the season.
One Sentence Summary: Accidental stings should not be the basis for a relationship.
Hell’s Paradise
The story really began to pick up near the end of the season. The action remained consistently great and the lore finally caught up to the questions. The final few episodes actually helped create an emotional investment in the side characters. I look forward to the next season and hope MAPPA continues the high production level.
One Sentence Summary: Who would win the world’s best ninja or immortal gods?
My Love Story with Yamada-Kun Lvl999
This was an absolute charmer of a love story. The cute and silly moments of Akane just being a fun and somewhat ditzy girl. The seriousness of Yamada and how he slowly warms up to her. It was just a pleasure to watch. It resonated well with anyone who has gotten very attached to their online gaming group too.
One Sentence Summary: Drunk gamer girls can trap you into falling in love with them.
Bonus: Hulu Saturday
Tengoku Daimkyo - Heavenly Delusion
This was a stand out show. The writing and animation kept me on my toes. I’m not a huge fan of the post apocalyptic shows but this was amazing. This was an obvious contender for anime of the season, if not the year. I am looking forward to seeing more of this.
One Sentence Summary: How would you react if you found out your brain was in your sibling’s body?

Monday
Insomniacs After School
This was my favorite romance of the season. The characters were relatable, and the art style was adorable, they felt so real. The story flowed so well; it built up each episode to a satisfying ending.
One Sentence Summary: Sleeping in school can lead to late night love confessions.
Tuesday
Kubo Won’t let Me Be Invisible
This was nice and low key, very little drama involved. I liked the slow evolution and acknowledgement of their growing feelings. The pastel art style really jived with the calm vibes of the show.
One Sentence Summary: Invisible boy is plagued by a teasing cute girl.
Wednesday
Oshi No Ko
This was another obvious contender for best anime of the season, objectively having the best opening song. The animation, voice acting, writing and directing were all on point and I was riveted to my seat for every episode.
One Sentence Summary: Cute idol family show goes dark very quickly.
Friday
Too Cute Crisis
This was, as it said, a crisis of cute. It wasn’t anything spectacular but it was a lot of fun. The predictable alien freakouts over new cute animals were adorable and I just enjoyed how silly it was.
One Sentence Summary: Can cute animals save the world from alien invasion!?!
Otaku Elf
This was the chillest show of the season. This was full of good vibes and relatable characters. Our introverted elf and her collections, and a 16 year old girl who just wants to grow up so fast. It was a relaxing show to end the work week on.
One Sentence Summary: Introverted elves make the best goddesses.
Saturday
Dangers In My Heart
Middle school romances are cute aren’t they? The edgy boy and the model who constantly snacks, such an adorable couple. The writing was so on point with this, there is a reason that this was voted the best romance of the season.
One Sentence Summary: Boy thinks he wants to kill girl, but really, he just has a crush on her.
The season was fantastic overall. I loved watching every day. I hope that everyone else did too! I’ll be picking up the writing pace and hopefully have some posts out about the summer season too. Happy watching everyone!
